James Handy’s Shocking Death in L.A.
Veteran Hollywood actor James Handy, best known for his appearances in Top Gun: Maverick , Jumanji , The West Wing , and numerous television dramas, has died at the age of 81 after a fatal stabbing incident in Los Angeles. Authorities confirmed that Handy was found unconscious with a stab wound to the chest outside a residence in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles on June 3, 2026. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call in which the caller reportedly made a confession before police arrived at the scene. When officers reached the residence, they discovered Handy injured in the front yard and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police arrested 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, identified as the son of Handy's longtime girlfriend, in connection with the killing.
