The Nigerian entertainment industry bid a final farewell to beloved Nollywood actor and model Alexx Ekubo as he was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, on June 18, 2026. 

The funeral ceremony was marked by emotional scenes as mourners dressed in white gathered to celebrate a life widely remembered for its impact on the film industry and humanitarian causes.

 Following a service of songs in Lagos and a wake-keeping ceremony in Abia State, the actor's remains were finally committed to mother earth amid prayers and tributes. 

An Outpouring of Love From Nollywood

Several prominent figures from the Nigerian movie industry attended the burial to pay their respects. 

Actors, actresses, producers, and close associates joined the Ekubo family during the solemn occasion, reflecting the immense respect and admiration the late star commanded throughout his career. 

Videos and images from the ceremony captured moments of grief and reflection, with many attendees visibly emotional as they said their final goodbyes to a man affectionately known by fans and colleagues as "Chief Ikuku."

Alexx Ekubo rose to prominence after finishing as the first runner-up in the Mr. Nigeria competition in 2010 before establishing himself as one of Nollywood's most recognizable faces.

Beyond acting, he was celebrated for his philanthropic efforts, youth empowerment initiatives, and contributions to African entertainment.
